SAIE Bologna 2026

WASP 3D BUILD will be at SAIE Bologna 2026
From October 7 to 10, 2026, WASP 3D BUILD will be exhibiting at SAIE Bologna 2026, the trade fair dedicated to the construction and building industry, to showcase its technologies for architectural 3D printing and innovative solutions for sustainable construction.
WASP technology opens up new possibilities for 3D-printed housing, combining digital design, automation, and material research to develop sustainable, flexible, and replicable housing solutions.
At the show, we will be showcasing a live 3D printing simulation for construction throughout the entire event, using the Stand-Alone Crane WASP, the compact version of the Crane WASP. This system makes it possible to create customized architectural modules using both locally sourced natural materials and traditional construction materials. Visitors will be able to see 3D printing in action and interact with our technicians to learn more about the system and how it works.

Visit Itaca: the first certified 3D-printed house in Italy
In 2026, WASP 3D BUILD completed the construction of Itaca, a self-sufficient and sustainable 3D-printed house built at Shamballa, an open-air laboratory nestled in the hills of Emilia-Romagna. The project was created with the aim of developing a new self-sufficient housing model based on the principles of micro-circular economy, where technology, sustainability, and architectural design come together in an integrated system.
Itaca represents a new paradigm for sustainable construction, meeting the same standards as traditional buildings, including seismic resistance, in compliance with Italian and European regulations. Thanks to 3D printing technology and the use of the Crane WASP, the construction system is designed to be easily replicated and adapted to different geographical contexts. Itaca thus becomes a tangible model for the development of bio-based construction and 3D printing applied to architecture worldwide.
On the occasion of SAIE 2026, Itaca will open its doors to the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the 3D-printed house and take part in guided tours dedicated to discovering the project: from the geometric design to the 3D printing of the walls, through to the technical and performance characteristics of the structure. The tours will also offer an opportunity to explore the self-sufficiency and micro-circular economy system behind Itaca, introducing the broader Shamballa project and its vision of sustainable, integrated, and replicable living.
Where Innovation Takes Place: WASP Headquarters and Vision
Since 2012, we have been designing, manufacturing, and distributing our Made in Italy 3D printers worldwide. The extensive range of WASP 3D printers has been developed to address essential human needs: food, housing, healthcare, energy, work, art, and culture. Our primary mission is to deliver tangible benefits to people through technological innovation and research.
Our headquarters are located in Massa Lombarda (Ravenna, Italy) and serve as the hub for innovation, research, and manufacturing. All design and engineering processes are carried out in-house, as is the production of our machines. The site also hosts indoor and outdoor laboratories dedicated to advanced research into innovative and sustainable solutions.
