The WASPhortus project aims to showcase the potential of 3D printing applied to hydroponic cultivation, creating vertical gardens suitable for growing vegetables in domestic environments.

Each tower consists of four modules entirely 3D printed using the WASP 3MT. The modules are easy to assemble and clean, and can accommodate a total of 64 plants. The system is based on hydroponic cultivation principles, where plant roots are irrigated with water enriched with nutrients, tailored to the different growth cycles.

he unique shape of each individual module, made possible by 3D printing technology, ensures proper irrigation for all cultivated plants and the continuous reuse of water within the central reservoir.
Finally, the base module is externally enclosed by a circular shell, entirely 3D printed using lime-cement mixtures and characterized by curved surface profiles integrated during the extrusion process.
